St Georges Day
Special Events

The annual Thorpe St Andrew Town Council St Georges Day event is held on the nearest Sunday to the day each year. The event, which takes place at the Dussindale Park, features funfairs, a petting zoo and s stall from the Raptor Trust. There are also a number of charities, local businesses and food stalls with a local company providing the Bar.

The St Georges arena often features Punch and Jude, Aspire Dancers, Pam Clarke Dance Group, Maypole Dancing and South Walsham Dog Obedience. The annual children’s fancy dress competition is judged by Town Mayor John Ward with each winner of the best St George, Princess and Dragon categories receiving a family ticket to Hollywood Cinema.

This free event is often described as a traditional British fete, which often benefits from glorious weather and is very well supported by local people and families alike.

On November 5th each year at the Fitzmaurice Park, Pound Lane the Town Council hold the annual Thorpe St Andrew fireworks display. This is the only Town council event where an admission fee is charged to support all our events throughout the year.

For the last two years the charge has been £3 Adult, £2 Child, under 2’s are free and a family of four are £10.Each year the event has grown more popular, with outstanding comments from visitors and residents alike.

The 2016 fireworks display is already being planned and the display is planned to be bigger and brighter than ever before. The events bring together a Bar stocking locally brewed beer and mulled cider, locally produced food on the catering stall and a large funfair for all the family. Craft and charity stalls are also a key feature of this event.

Each year the Town Council organise a special event. In the past this has included VE Day celebrations, Armed Forces Day events and Hot Car shows.

Keep your eyes peeled for these events throughout the year.If your know of any important events coming up, get in touch with the Town Council office to let us know.
