The annual Thorpe St Andrew Town Council St Georges Day event is held on the nearest Sunday to the day each year. The event, which takes place at the Fitzmaurice Park, features funfairs, a petting zoo and s stall from the Raptor Trust. There are also a number of charities, local businesses and food stalls with the Fat Cat and Tap providing the Bar.
The St George's arena often features Punch and Jude, Aspire Dancers, Pam Clarke Dance Group, Maypole Dancing and South Walsham Dog Obedience. The annual children’s fancy dress competition is judged by Town Mayor with each winner of the best St George, Princess and Dragon categories receiving a family cinematicket.
This free event is often described as a traditional British fete, which often benefits from glorious weather and is very well supported by local people and families alike.
