The Laundry Lane Recreation Ground is our largest site. It has numerous football pitchs, tennis courts and woodland walks. The site has two childrens play areas which are next to the Morse Pavilion. The site is home to the St Andrews Football Club and is next to the Recreation Bowling Club.

The Fitzmaurice Park, Pound Lane is our most recent Park and has recently undergone extensive work to become our main 'events' park. It is home to the annual Fireworks displays and St Georges Day Fete. The Park has a floodlit MUGA area, childrens play area, slide and a zipwire.

Often described as the 'Jewel of Thorpe St Andrew', River Green is an idyllic picnic and leisure area on the Norfolk Broads. River Green is also the location of the War Memorial and is the site of the Town VE Day and Rembembrance services.

Thorpe St Andrew Town Council is working with the Friends of Thorpe ST Andrew Parks to improve and develop its Fitzmaurice and Laundry Lane parks.

Following an extensive public consultation in 2013, plans and a schedule of works have been developed. The Town Council put these plans out to the residents through its ‘Thorpe St Andrew News’ and is gathering feedback to draw up a list of priorities.

The plans are wide ranging and include more seating and picnic areas, shade, wildlife areas, additional play equipment, an alternative to the current fencing, as well as the wheeled park that will be part funded by the Pinebanks development.

To give your priorities just fill in a questionnaire of email the Town Council office. If you would like to follow the work of the Friends of Thorpe St Andrew Parks, or get involved with the group, you can visit the blog http://friendsoftsaparks.wordpress.com/ , like their Facebook page, or email them at friendsoftsaparks@yahoo.co.uk
