On Saturday 8th June, we commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day landings with a great, free community event for the whole family.
Join us at the Sir George Morse Park on Laundry Lane from 12-5pm, for a host of re-enactment displays, exhibits, vehicles and militaria from groups including Lives of the Past , the New Farm Aviation Heritage Group and Memoirs of a Desert Rat. 1940s Fancy Dress is absolutely encouraged and we’ll have prizes for Best Child and Best Adult costume!
We will also have entertainment from the hugely popular Taverham Band, local singer Charlotte Wright, and Irish acapella group “Isle ‘Ave a Shanty”, as well as our good friend Dave Doughnut’s Punch & Judy show and Braids by Alice for the children.
Community Groups in attendance include the Broadland District Council Help Hub Outreach van, N
orfolk Police, Thorpe Dementia Support Group, Models for Heroes, and the Royal British Legion, with book sale, raffle and tombola amongst the activities on offer.
To look after your refreshment needs, the football clubhouse bar will be open, as well as The Little Park Café, and on site we’ll have Mr Frosty’s Ice Cream van, Churros & Chorizo, Owies, Broadside Pizza, Claridges, AbFab Sweet Treats, The Cake Maid, Fresh Bread Micro Bakery and Sweet Smiles….so something for everybody!
We really hope to see you on the day to celebrate this bygone era and learn a little more about the sacrifices made 80 years ago.
