South Avenue and Stanmore Road, Thorpe St Andrew – Road Closure for Footpath Maintenance
Starting Tuesday, 7 April 2026, Norfolk County Council will begin essential footpath maintenance work on South Avenue and Stanmore Road in Thorpe St Andrew. The project is expected to take approximately 16 weeks, subject to weather conditions.
To ensure the safety of both workers and the public, South Avenue and Stanmore Road will be closed for residential access only. Property accesses will be maintained at all times, although minor delays may occur.
To complete the work as efficiently as possible, there will be a parking restriction in place on both roads, these restrictions will move along the road in line with the areas where footway works are taking place. Work will begin near the junction with A1242 Yarmouth Road. We kindly ask that any vehicles parked within the affected areas are moved before works commence.
The County Council thanks people for their patience while this footpath improvement work is carried out and we apologies for any disturbance caused by the works.
The work which will cost £177,000 will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors.
